Acclimatization of Tapeinochilos ananassae plantlets in association with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi PAB
Oliveira,João Ricardo Gonçalves de; Morais,Thiago Alberto de Lima; Melo,Natoniel Franklin de; Yano‑Melo,Adriana Mayumi.
The objective of this work was to assess the potential of three isolates of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to promote growth of micropropagated plantlets of Tapeinochilos ananassae during acclimatization. The experiment was carried out in greenhouse, in a completely randomized block design, with four inoculation treatments: non‑inoculated control and plants inoculated with Glomus etunicatum, Acaulospora longula or Gigaspora albida, with ten replicates. After 90 days, the following parameters were evaluated: survival rate, height, leaf and tiller number, leaf area, fresh and dry biomass, contents of macro‑ and micronutrients in the root and shoot, glomerospore number, and mycorrhizal colonization. The survival percentage was 100%, except for plants inoculated...

Adaptation of anthurium cultivars as cut flowers in a subtropical area PAB
Assis,Adriane Marinho de; Unemoto,Lilian Keiko; Faria,Ricardo Tadeu de; Destro,Deonísio; Takahashi,Lúcia Sadayo Assari; Roberto,Sérgio Ruffo; Prudêncio,Sandra Helena; Tombolato,Antonio Fernando Caetano.
The objective of this work was to evaluate the adaptation of anthurium (Anthurium andraeanum) cultivars as cut flowers in a subtropical area, located in north of Paraná State, Brazil. The Apalai, Ianomami, Kinã, nK 102, Parakanã, Rubi, and Terena cultivars were cultivated in a nursery under 80% shade. The number of leaves and inflorescences, floral stem length, length and width of inflorescences, and spadix length were evaluated. The experimental design was in completely randomized blocks, with six replicates and five plants per plot. During the 18 months evaluated, 'Parakanã' produced 11 inflorescences per plant, whereas the other cultivars produced seven to nine inflorescences per plant. The number of leaves produced per plant was: 'Ianomami', 25;...

Different levels of shade on population of grasshoppers and its oviposition preference on heliconias Ciência Rural
Bittar,Ana Cristina; Aguiar-Menezes,Elen de Lima; Guerra,José Guilherme Marinho; Rouws,Janaína Ribeiro Costa; Aguiar,Luiz Augusto de; Leite,Paulo Sergio da Silva.
ABSTRACT: Grasshoppers of the families Acrididae and Romaleidae (Orthoptera) are among the insects that defoliate heliconias and have been gaining status as pests of commercial crops of these plants in Brazil. The objectives of the present study were to identify the grasshopper defoliating heliconias in the municipality of Santo Antônio de Pádua, RJ (Brazil), to evaluate the effect of different levels of shade on the population of this grasshopper and the production parameters of heliconias, and to determine if this grasshopper has an oviposition preference among the heliconias evaluated. The experiment was in a completely randomized block design, in subdivided plots (four levels of shade in the plot, 0%, 30%, 50% and 80%, and four species of Heliconia: H....

EXPORTAÇÃO DE FLORES TROPICAIS NO ESTADO DE PERNAMBUCO ANÁLISE DA INSERÇÃO DOS CANAIS DE DISTRIBUIÇÃO AgEcon
Pedrosa Filho, Manoel Xavier; Favero, Luiz Andrea.
This article aims to analyze the main distribution channels in the productive chains of tropical flowers in Pernambuco state, focusing on the factors that influence its insertion into the European market. The European Union is the main destination for the tropical flowers exported by Pernambuco, responding for 99, 12 % of the total sales to foreign countries (in value) in 2005. The methodology was based on a qualitative analysis, and took the commodity systems approach as conceptual reference, complemented by the supply chain management approach. Besides secondary data, it was also used primary sources information by means of interviews conduced on the “key-actors” and surveys in the field. Pernambuco flower exporters have used as distribution channels the...

Macronutrients deficiency in Heliconia psittacorum x Heliconia spathocircinata 'Golden Torch' Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Castro,Ana Cecília Ribeiro de; Willadino,Lilia Gomes; Loges,Vivian; Castro,Mario Felipe Arruda de; Aragão,Fernando Antonio Souza de.
The objective of this study was to characterize nutritional deficiencies in Heliconia psittacorum x Heliconia spathocircinata 'Golden Torch', through growth indicators, symptomatology and macronutrients contents in leaves and underground plant part. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, with eight treatments comprising complete nutrition solution (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S), solution with individual nutrient omission of N, P, K, Ca, Mg or S and solution lacking all nutrients. The symptoms of nutrients deficiency appeared in the following occurrence order: N, K, P, Mg and S. Deficiency symptoms were: general chlorosis to - N omission; slight chlorosis to - P and - S; dark green leaves and necrosis to - K; marginal chlorosis and necrosis to - Mg. Calcium...

Post harvest of pink ginger floral stems treated with silver thiosulphate, sucrose, and calcium Horticultura Brasileira
Silva,Antonio Tarciso C da; Ferreira,Vilma M; Graciano,Érika SA; Souza,Renan C de; Araújo Neto,João C de; Loges,Vivian.
The Brazilian market of tropical flowers has been growing broadly with a strong participation of the Northeast Region, where the State of Alagoas stands out. Among the exporting tropical cut flowers, pink ginger (Alpinia purpurata (Vieill) K. Schum) has been one of the most promising species. Aiming at delaying senescence in floral stems of pink ginger, two laboratory experiments were carried out at the Agricultural Science Center of the Federal University of Alagoas. In the first experiment, three different exposure periods (30; 60, and 120 minutes) to silver thiosulphate 1 mM were tested, followed or not by pulsing in a 20% sucrose solution, for 12 hours. In the second experiment, we evaluated the effect of adding calcium sulphate 50 and 100 mM, sodium...
